Gone are the days when people were struggling with internet connection and every digital activity could potentially become a nightmare. Many of us remember those online meetings (they were mostly personal calls back then) that would glitch over and over again, and the heavier activities would rather be based on the device. For instance, if it was gaming, players would have it installed on their gaming device, and very few of them would think of a day when almost any kind of game would be played via the internet without interruptions.

With this being said, we cannot deny that connectivity still has issues in many parts of the world. Although it’s in very advanced stages in the territory of the U.S., Canada, most of Europe, and so on, there are still countries waiting for the wave of technological improvements.

Truly, the level of tech advancements vary from country to country but our digital habits mostly do not. Internet users around the world browse social media daily, do online shopping, play games, and so on. In this article, we separated a few of the best-performing platforms under any speed of connection, allowing users to mind their online activity, without worrying about glitches and frozen displays.

Cloud and online casino gaming

The range of game types is so broad that almost every person is a game-lover depending on their preferences and lifestyle. Game is a part of pop culture, and as with every culture, it doesn’t know borders, so game developers really deal with the global market in that sense. The good news is that gamers around the world, regardless of their internet connectivity strength, have the ability to enjoy a pleasant gaming experience.

It’s not a secret that recently many developers have preferred creating their games using cloud servers, which means the game doesn’t directly stream on your device but it first goes to a host server, which can be located anywhere in the world, and then only projects to your display. This is how cloud systems generally work. With the rise of online casino platforms, gambling games became the next frontiers of the industry to use cloud servers and provide a good user experience. And it’s not all about the connectivity.

Well-known tech giants offer special services to game developers to locate their games on super powerful servers for demanding games, and this is how people enjoy an uninterrupted experience even with a weaker connection.

Social Media Platforms: Advancing, although slowly

Let’s be real, scrolling through our feeds is basically a daily ritual for most of us. But even with a spotty connection, you can usually still catch those Instagram pics or the latest TikTok dance craze. That’s because social media platforms are pretty clever when it comes to dealing with different connection speeds.

They use a bunch of tricks to make things run smoothly. Images are compressed, which means they shrink in size without losing too much detail, kind of like taking a high-resolution photo and making it a little lower quality. This way, they load much faster on your phone or computer, even if your internet isn’t that strong.

Videos adjust their quality on the fly, similar to how Netflix might switch between HD and standard definition depending on your bandwidth. And even those annoying ads are often designed to load quickly – they might be smaller in size or use less complex animations – so they don’t slow everything down to a crawl. Facebook even has this cool tech called “Progressive JPEG” that shows you a blurry version of a photo while the sharper one loads in the background. So, even with a slow connection, you still get the the update of those memes or personal images your friend shared, without having to wait forever for the whole image to appear.

Digital Workspaces

Entertainment is great and all, but for most of us, work is a big part of our digital lives, given the fact that many companies started working remotely or at least in a hybrid mode. And it’s juts great that even with a slow connection, you can still get things done! Google’s suite of tools is a good example – you can type away on emails, edit docs, even work on presentations offline. When you finally find some decent Wi-Fi, everything syncs up like magic.

And don’t even get us started on video conferencing! Tools like Zoom and Microsoft Teams are a lifeline for remote work. But even they’ve adapted to work with spotty connections. They can automatically adjust the video quality or prioritize your audio so those virtual meetings still happen, even if your internet is barely hanging on by a thread. It just goes to show that even when the connection isn’t ideal, we can still stay connected and get things done by the deadline.
